Monthly & Bimonthly Volunteering Days

Help out at our monthly volunteer work parties held on the 4th Sunday of each month and on alternate Tuesdays. See our events programme for dates. Various habitat management and conservation tasks are carried out, which differ depending on the time of year. These include coppicing and removing willow, planting berry bearing shrubs, making log piles, maintaining our tern rafts on the lakes, servicing hides, making screening, removing invasive Himalayan balsam, fencing and managing our reed beds.

All important Christmas work party bar-b-q

We meet at 9.45am in the Lavell’s Lake car park on Sandford Lane (opposite the Dinton Activity Centre entrance) and work for three hours with a break for tea, coffee and a chat. We work whatever the weather and old clothing and sturdy boots or wellies are recommended. All are welcome, although under 16s must be supervised by a responsible adult. Duke of Edinburgh & other youth groups always welcome by appointment.

There is no car parking charge for work party participants (please register your car registration number with us beforehand).

Meeting and engaging with the public

If you can help in a non work party capacity for tasks such as manning a table on a footpath adjacent to our work party team, to grow our membership we really do need a regular team effort to engage members of the public and hand out membership leaflets to those with a genuine interest.

Bucket shakers required

You can even be part of a bucket shake team for when a rarity turns up, to add even more hard cash to the coffers.

Corporate volunteering days

Perhaps your company allows you to organise and carry out corporate volunteering days, we are always open to create useful half and one day tasks for any group, just use the email address below to let us know your plans
